Latest Information

Further to the latest Government announcement on Sunday regarding possible changes in General Practice, we would like to reassure all of our patients that we will not be cancelling any of our routine appointments and we will be working as normal. 

Our Team will continue to work overtime to provide a vaccination service for our registered patients.

The Springs Health Centre Christmas and New Year Opening Hours

We will be open 08:00 – 16:00 on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

 From 16:00 on these days we will transfer our telephone lines to our local out of hours GP service operated by DHU 111. We will operate normal opening hours 29 - 30 December, 08:00-18:30.

Over the last couple of years we have seen a greater demand for appointments in the days prior to bank holidays and lower demand on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, particularly in the afternoons.  We will continue to offer appointments and vaccinations at the beginning of the weeks leading up to Christmas and New Year.

Our top tips for a healthy and happy Christmas:

Please order any repeat prescriptions you require in time to ensure you have enough for over the Christmas and New Year period

Be prepared for common health problems by keeping a well-stocked medicine cabinet at home.

Use NHS 111 if you need medical help but it’s not an emergency. NHS 111 offers an online service at nhs.uk or you can call them by dialling 111

Get your flu and COVID-19 vaccinations if you are eligible

If you are in a life-threatening situation

Please remember that if you have a medical emergency, such as a suspected heart attack, stroke, or other serious life-threatening condition, call 999. 

Community pharmacy services over the bank holidays

Please check the NHS England website for pharmacy opening times and other useful information about accessing NHS services over the bank holiday period. Alternatively you may wish to visit your pharmacy website or call them for more information.

General Information 

Whilst most of the Covid restrictions have now been lifted the pandemic has not ended. Our team is working hard to try and ensure that we continue to provide our patients with a good healthcare service.
The practice remains open as it has throughout the pandemic. To help us protect the most vulnerable in our community we continue to manage the number of people within the building. This is why we will still ask you to use the intercom system.
Due to both staff shortages and staff absence we know that getting through on the phone can be difficult, we are doing our very best to answer calls as quickly as possible so please bear with us. We understand that the past 18 months have been very stressful for everyone however swearing at and being abusive to our receptionists is unacceptable. The Government has a Zero Tolerance Policy which is supported by the practice which says that GPs and their staff have a right to care for others without fear of being attacked or abused. Please be polite we are trying our very best to help you.

The Springs Health Centre have had a Patient Participation Group since around 2005, the group was suspended due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, but we are now ready to restart the meetings. The meetings are held on a Tuesday at 5.30 every 2 months, if you are interested in becoming a member of the group please email admin.thespringshealthcentre@nhs.net

Covid 19 Vaccinations 

We are currently offering vaccinations to all our registered patients aged over 18 which includes the primary doses and the Booster vaccination. 

It is really important that you receive your booster, if you have not got an appointment booked please contact the surgery on 01246819444.

From 17 May 2021, people in England who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 can demonstrate their vaccination status for international travel. A full course is currently two doses of any approved vaccine. Vaccine status will be available from: 

  • the NHS App which you can download from app stores 

  • the NHS website (from 17 May 2021)

It may take more than a week for your identity to be checked and verified so you can use these services.

If you cannot access these online services, and you have had two vaccines, you can request a paper letter from the NHS by calling 119. Only call 119 if you had your second dose more than five working days ago. It may take seven working days for the letter to arrive.

The Springs Health Centre is not able to provide you with a letter that shows your COVID-19 vaccination status.

When you're planning your travel, check the latest information on demonstrating your COVID-19 status when travelling abroad on the gov.uk website. Make sure there is time to get  proof of your vaccination status before you leave.
